One Vision Imaging are a professional photographic laboratory company, providing the highest quality of printing and manufacturing services, being one of the most respected in the UK.

One Vision Imaging rely on compressed air across their production area, supplying a total of 11 air guns, as well as their printers, frame cutters and other cutting equipment. The system supports everything from blowing down and cleaning to precise cutting and finishing.

The Brief

Considering this, One Vision Imaging required a review of its ageing compressed air system, which was no longer meeting production demands, alongside the replacement of a 40-year-old distribution network that had suffered repeated leaks, with any new solution needing to deliver consistent performance and meet ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 2-4-1air quality standards.

Our Solution

To fulfil the above requirements, Direct Air’s Sales Engineer Scott Cluley recommended the CompAir L07RS FS Variable Speed Rotary Screw Compressor, complete with a 270L receiver and standalone refrigerant dryer, which we supplied and installed. The VSD technology automatically adjusted output to match One Vision’s fluctuating demand, eliminating off-load waste, stabilising pressure, and reducing running costs. Installation was scheduled for the first working day of the month to minimise disruption, in line with One Vision’s production plan.

To ensure compliance with ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 2-4-1 air quality, Scott specified a BEKO Clearpoint filtration package including Fine, Super Fine, Activated Carbon Cartridge and Dust filters, supported by a Sterling CS75 oil/water separator for environmentally compliant condensate management. Combined with the integrated dryer, this setup delivered ISO Class 1-4-1 air quality, exceeding the site’s requirement.

Alongside the compressor and filtration upgrade, we carried out a full redesign of the distribution network using Transair aluminium pipework. This included a 40mm main line, 25mm distribution runs above the ceiling, 14 new air drops with isolation valves, and strategically placed regulators to reduce pressure loss. Transair’s modular, corrosion-resistant system provided a long-term, leak-free solution.

With these improvements in place, One Vision benefited from a more efficient and reliable compressed air system, lower energy consumption, and a future-proof pipework network that supported production while meeting the required air quality standards.

Colin Harris, One Vision Imaging’s Operations Manager commented:

“Direct Air took the time to properly understand how our site was using air, then backed it up with clear data logging. The new VSD compressor and upgraded Transair ring main have completely removed the pressure issues we were seeing, and the installation was handled smoothly with minimal impact on production. We now have reliable air at the quality we need, with a system that feels far more efficient and future-proof.”

Scott Cluley, Sales Engineer at Direct Air commented:

“Direct Air as a whole have built a great rapport with One Vision, and their pressure, air quality, and efficiency needs were made clear from the start. That allowed us to recommend the right system first time, plan the work around production, and deliver a reliable upgrade that met ISO standards.”
